Linda Parker Smith, CEO & Founder
Linda is the Founder and CEO of Smiles. In 2009 she pledged to “Give them a Smile” and has been doing just that for 11 years. Linda works tirelessly with a network of dentists and labs, builds referral relationships with other nonprofit collaborators, and engages community leaders and donors to support Smiles. She also finds time to give each recipient her personal attention making sure that they overcome any fears and feel comfortable with their new dental team.
Carla Sorrell, Case Coordinator
With over twenty years of experience in the dental field, Carla joined Smiles as our Case Coordinator. She provides personalized care and attention for the recipients throughout the entire treatment journey from application to their last visit with the dentist. Coordinating the network of dentists, labs and collaborating partners, Carla tracks and manages the many details involved in each case as well as reporting patient outcomes and impact to support our Mission.
Penelope Gillam, Accounting
With 22 years of accounting and operations expertise in profit and non-profit business, it’s the mission of the organization that drives her to capture the special financial nuances that make-up both corporate arenas. She has a BA in Economics from UC Santa Cruz and an MBA in Organizational Behavior from UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business. Penelope came to Smiles with an enthusiasm to serve the specific needs of our recipient population.
Pam Betz, Community Resource Director
With over 30 years as a certified nonprofit profit management professional, Pam Betz serves as the Director of Community Resources, raising donors and leadership in support of Smiles and Beyond. She was Director of Community Resources for St. Luke’s Health System and longtime Executive Director of the Hon Kachina Council. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at ASU’s Lodestar Center providing training and coaching of Valley nonprofit organizations pursuing certification in effective volunteer management through the Service Enterprise Initiative offered by Points of Light. Pam has been an active community volunteer holding leadership positions on numerous nonprofit boards and provides consulting expertise through Betz and Company.
Susan Santilena, Marketing and Development Director
The Mission of Smiles is to provide healthy, restored smiles to our recipients now and in the future. To do so, the design and implementation of a foundational platform for sustainable fund development is crucial. Together with over 25 years of experience in the corporate sector and seven years in the nonprofit sector, Susan has developed the skills necessary to help Smiles grow. She earned her MBA degree at CSU, Chico, California, and is a member of the Arizona Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Heidi Rowland, Graphic Design & Marketing
A Graphic Designer with over 20 years of experience and a diverse background in print advertising, custom websites, logos, packaging and social media marketing. Heidi is passionate about helping share the mission of Smiles and Beyond with her experience as a designer. She earned her degree from the Art Institute of Phoenix.
